On March 22, 2026, Milan will host an exciting dance battle based entirely on improvisation with live music. The event will feature both 1vs1 and 2vs2 battle formats and is open to dancers from all backgrounds and styles.
The battle will be accompanied live by the Malamañoso Orchestra, performing a powerful mix of salsa, funk, hip hop, son, afro and house, with a strong Caribbean influence that will shape the energy of the competition.
There are no limits to the dance styles allowed. Participants are free to express themselves through any form of dance, including salsa, hip hop, house, afro, contemporary and beyond.
All dancers will take part in a preselection held on the same day of the event. The top 16 dancers, or couples in the 2vs2 category, will advance to the battle phase, which will follow a single-elimination system.
Each round will last approximately 45 to 50 seconds. In the 2vs2 category, each entry can consist of one freestyle and one combo, or one freestyle only. It will not be permitted to perform two freestyles or two combos. A combo is defined as a choreographed partnerwork performed by the couple.
The judging panel will be composed of outstanding international judges representing different dance disciplines.
To register, participants must complete the registration form available at www.unionlatincongress.com.
The battle will take place in Milan on March 22, 2026, as part of the Union Latin Congress, which will run from March 20 to 22, 2026, featuring classes, shows, competitions and social night parties.
